In the month of January we mark two important dates in history. The third Monday of the month marks the anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday that celebrates the Civil Rights leader’s life and legacy. Later on in the month we recall that on January 22, 1973 the U.S. Supreme Court issued a 7–2 landmark decision in which the Court ruled that the Constitution of the United States protects a pregnant woman's liberty to choose to have an abortion without excessive government restriction. It struck down many U.S. federal and state abortion laws. Therefore, this month we will be exploring some important themes in Catholic Social teaching.

Content note:

In putting this playlist together, I've sought to gather the best recourses on the web that will help you understand this concept of being spiritually grounded. Not everything that you come across is necessarily from a "Catholic" source but nothing you learn about is in conflict with basic Catholic Christian teachings. Some ideas may challenge your thinking but you are encouraged to reflect upon what you learn, take what you find useful, and set aside what's not helpful on your faith journey at this point. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you as you reflect.

LEARNING INSTRUCTIONS

Simply explore the content gathered about this topic. There are many different types of content on this page. Explore what interests you. You don't have to click on everything, but you should spend enough time to become familiar with this topic at various levels. Pay attention to the "question starters" in each section; they will help guide your reflections. After you've finished gathering information and learning through different presentations, scroll down and click on the "Live/Reflect" button to continue with this module.
